The size and carat of the diamond you choose depends on your budget.
Some people want to get the biggest diamond for their budget, ignoring the other important 3 C's (Cut, Clarity and Color).
Some want a more balanced characteristic for their budget.
When considering how many carat you are going to buy, the most important thing to me is the Cut of the diamonds. A diamond can be very big however if it is poorly cut, there will not be any sparkle or fire at all. The next important thing is Color.
A diamond with a D color is considered to be the highest grade as it is colorless. As the grade goes down to E, F and G, the diamond will be less colorless.
Some like color to their diamonds, they are called Fancy Diamonds. Fancy diamonds are diamonds with color I and below. However, these diamonds tend to have less value and price. The higher the color grade is, the more expensive and valuable the diamond will be.
So the three major things to consider when buying a diamond is of course, Cost, Cut, Carat and Color. Clarity is another factor to consider when buying a diamond, however since the inclusions in the diamonds are not visible under the naked eye, this to me is the least important factor of all the 4 C's unless I'm buying a diamond so big the inclusions are easily visible under the naked eye. |
